Old Black Bear Brewery is an adaptive reuse project located in downtown Athens, Alabama that revitalized an empty warehouse into a brewery and restaurant for the company’s expansion into Athens.

When Old Black Bear Brewing Company decided to expand their brewing operation into downtown Athens, they purchased an old abandoned warehouse right off of the square. We worked with the owners to solidify their dreams for the space and walked through every phase of the process with them. The space houses a full brewing operation and a restaurant to enjoy while sipping on their beer or spirits. We exposed the original bowstring truss and roof system, activated the existing skylights so that they illuminate indoor tree wells, designed a large U-shaped bar, ample eating space, and an open air entry courtyard to enjoy all that OBB has to offer.
